January FGCU Author Series

Congratulations to Dr. Eric Otto, our 11th honoree in the FGCU Author Series of recently published books authored by FGCU faculty and staff! Dr. Otto’s book Green Speculations will be featured on the Library homepage during the month of January, and displayed on a poster on the first floor of Library West in the New Books Area.

Dr. Otto is an Associate Professor of Environmental Humanities at FGCU, where he teaches Environmental Humanities, Themes in the Humanities, the University Colloquium on Environmental Sustainability, and several courses in the Interdisciplinary Studies minor. He specializes in environmental science fiction, studying the ways science fiction writers have engaged with environmental issues. Green Speculations “places science fiction at the center of environmentalism and considers the genre to be an essential tool for prompting needed social and cultural transformation” (Ohio State University Press). Dr. Otto is also a faculty associate in FGCU’s Center for Environmental and Sustainability Education.

Each month a recent book authored by FGCU staff or faculty is selected, presented by an accompanying poster, and featured on the Library’s website. Everyone is encouraged to view the display of our FGCU authors’ recent works. Any of the Author Series books in the General Collection are available for check out. Authors are encouraged to donate a copy of their book(s) to the Library by contacting their subject specialist.
