Україна: Ukraine – The Maniichuk-Brady Collection of Socialist Realist Art

FGCU Archives, Special Collections, & Digital Initiatives is proud to present Україна: Ukraine – The Maniichuk-Brady Collection of Socialist Realist Art, an assortment of realist and socialist realist art by Ukrainian artists from the 1950s through the dissolution of the Soviet Union. Once the Ukraine declared itself an independent state, much of the art created during that period were destroyed, cast off as undesirable relics of recent history. The paintings in this collection were saved over a period of time by Ukrainian-American Jurii Maniichuk. The majority of these works are now on display at the Ukrainian Institute of America located in New York City, but the FGCU Library is fortunate enough to have a portion of the collection on loan. FGCU Archives, Special Collections, & Digital Initiatives would like to thank Rose Brady, owner and administrator of the Maniichuk-Brady Collection, for the opportunity to present this historically significant collection to the public.

*Україна: Ukraine – The Maniichuk-Brady Collection of Socialist Realist Art *will officially open August 28th and close December 3rd.

The FGCU Archives are located on the third floor of the Library in room 322. Viewing hours are 9 am – 5 pm.
