Introducing our new Scholarly Communication Librarian, Chealsye Bowley.

Role in the library?
I’m the Scholarly Communication Librarian. My work focuses on academic publishing, copyright, Open Access, and the university’s repository.

How did you get to where you are?
After graduating from FGCU in 2012, I went to Florida State University to study for my Master’s in Library and Information Studies. At FSU I worked with the Scholarly Communication Librarian and fell in love with advocating for Open Access (public access to research). Then I was the Librarian at the FSU Study Center in Florence, Italy for one year and completed a second master’s in the history of science at University College London the following year.

Favorite space in the library?
The top floor, because it has the best views!

Favorite book and why?
That’s too tough! The last book I read was a wonderful short story collection Sorry, Please, Thank You by Charles Yu, which I highly recommend.
