Laura Frost, Ph.D: Summer 2019 FGCU Author Series Nominee

Congratulations to Dr. Laura Frost, our 65th honoree in the FGCU Author Series of recently published books authored or edited by FGCU faculty and staff. Dr. Frost’s book General, Organic and Biological Chemistry, 4th edition ( will be featured on the FGCU Library’s digital media channels during summer 2019 and displayed on a poster on the first floor of Library West in the FGCU Authors and New Books area.

Laura Frost is Professor of Chemistry and Director of the Whitaker Center for STEM Education. She earned her Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of Pennsylvania and B.S. from Kutztown University of Pennsylvania. Her current research interests include the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL), and both STEM and Chemistry Education research. First published in 2010, her textbook General, Organic, and Biological Chemistry (Pearson) is now in its fourth edition. She has also published an accompanying workbook of guided-inquiry activities. She is very interested in the writing and publishing process and in 2019 will serve as the president of the Textbook and Academic Author’s Association (TAA).

Throughout the year, a recent book authored by FGCU staff or faculty is selected and recognized in a variety of ways. FGCU faculty and staff are encouraged to notify the relevant subject specialist librarian if they publish a book.
